Hunterdon County Commissioner Shaun C. Van Doren Is Sworn In As NJAC’s 83rd President

On Friday, January 26th, Hunterdon County Commissioner Shaun C. Van Doren was sworn in as the New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC) 83rd President during the Association’s annual reorganization meeting, that took place in the historic Senate Chambers of the State House in Trenton. 


Commissioner Van Doren stated, “I look forward to leading this outstanding organization in 2024 with a unified and proactive voice as NJAC continues to excel as a valuable and trusted resource for county governments across the State.” 


Hunterdon County Clerk and NJAC past President, Mary Melfi administered the oath of office to Commissioner Van Doren and U.S. Congressman Tom Kean Jr. delivered the keynote remarks along with a congratulations to Hunterdon County.

NJAC also swore in its board of directors and slate of executive officers, which include Somerset County Commissioner Shanel Y. Robinson as 1st Vice President, Warren County Commissioner James R. Kern III as 2nd Vice President, Union County Commissioner Alexander Mirabella as Secretary/Treasurer, and Camden County Commissioner Jonathan L. Young as Immediate Past President. 


Mr. Van Doren further shared, “At a time in which county governments are playing a vital and growing role in the everyday lives of New Jersey residents through cutting edge regionalized and shared services, I commend NJAC’s executive officers and board of directors for their leadership, vision and commitment as dedicated public servants.” 


NJAC is committed to advocating the legislation, regulations, and policy directives that empower county governments to operate more efficiently and effectively. As a non-partisan organization that represents the only true regional form of government in the State with a unified and proactive voice, NJAC is committed to advancing innovative programs and initiatives that enhance the level of service provided and save valuable taxpayer dollars.
