Hunterdon Commissioners Recognize Championship Athletes at Recent Board Meetings

Over the past month the Hunterdon County Board of County Commissioners have recognized teams from across the County for State Championship victories in their respective sports and groups.
“These championship wins are a true testament to the hard work, perseverance, and teamwork displayed by these wrestlers, coaches, and supporting communities. On behalf of the entire Board, I would like to congratulate all these young champions for bringing pride and honor to Hunterdon County.” Commissioner Director John Lanza stated. The following teams have been recognized for their statewide success in 2025: Delaware Valley Regional Highschool Wrestling Team: NJSIAA Group 1 State Championship against Hanover Park, showcasing their exceptional skill and sportsmanship throughout the season with a 19-3 overall record. North Hunterdon Regional Highschool Wrestling Team: NJSIAA Group 4 State Wrestling Championship against Phillipsburg. Their team’s impressive performance this season demonstrated strong commitment to excellence, finishing with a record of 17-6.
Delaware Valley Regional High School (DVRHS) Cheerleaders: New Jersey Cheerleading & Dance Coaches Association Inc. Group 2 State Championships on February 22, 2025.
Hunterdon Central Regional High School (HCRHS) Cheerleaders: New Jersey Cheerleading & Dance Coaches Association Inc. Group 4 State Championships on February 22, 2025.
Hunterdon Central Regional High School (HCRHS) Unified Basketball Team: Group A State
Championship on March 16, 2025.
In recognition of these remarkable accomplishments, The Hunterdon County Board of County Commissioners invited each of these teams and their families to the Historic Hunterdon County Courthouse, in which the Board presented proclamations to the winning teams as family and community members looked on. Mr. Lanza conclude, “These teams have shown remarkable dedication, skill, and sportsmanship, bringing pride and honor to their respective schools – their success is an inspiration to us all, and we are excited to acknowledge their hard-earned victories with these proclamations.”
